The ARAGUAIA SOLDIERS is a documentary that gives voice to the privates who fought against the Araguaia Guerrilla in the beginning of the 1970s, in a conflict sometimes labeled as the “Brazilian Vietnam”. Set south of the Amazon to wage war against the military dictatorship, the communist guerrilla suffered a flagrant defeat, but the winning servicemen came back with no glory: only traumas, scars and tales of violence and abuse. Rejected by the common people for their military past and by the Army for their controversial allegations, these soldiers have become, until now, the forgotten victims of the war.
