Chronicles of a Kirghiz summer

Chroniques d'un été kirghize

Rysbai is a Manas storyteller, a Kirghiz epic passed down from generation to generation orally as a sung poetry, equivalent to the Iliad and the Odyssey. But Rysbai is also our omniscient narrator, who leads the viewer on the discovery of three places in Kirghizstan, where live, during summertime, the nomadic tradition's keepers of this Central Asian country. Mairembek and his family are shepherds, staying on the riverbanks of the Song-Keul, a sacred lake sitting at 3000 meters high. This is also where is being played the Oulak-tartysh, a horse-ridden game in which Kanbeyk, Mairembek’s protégé, shines in. In the green Issy-Keul mountains, Arstan is eagle-hunting with Azamat, his disciple, meanwhile in the Bishckek capital, Jyldis, a traditional healer, saves her fellow citizen's souls following traditions mixing shamanism and Islam. An ethnographic documentary, the chronicles of summertime in Kirghizstan.
