Selection criteria for Pitching du Réel

  • The project must be intended as a creative feature-length documentary with theatrical potential.
  • The main criteria for selection are the quality of the project and plans as well as the experience of the directors and/or producers.
  • The project and subject should be adapted for an international coproduction.
  • The project should be new or recent and not have gone around to all the financial partners and other festivals or markets.
  • The project may be at any stage of development, but basic funding. would be appreciated (viability)

Organization

The Pitching du Réel will take place during the festival Visions du Réel (22 – 24 April 2012). 

A personal presentation of the project and a short trailer are required.

During the afternoon before the public pitching followed by a discussion of the project at round tables, an individual monitoring and pitch preparation for the project teams will be offered.  

The projects selected will be published in the Pitching du Réel catalogue. The catalogue will be in PDF format on our website and sent by mail to the financial partners registered for the event before the Festival. During the Festival, it will be presented in printed form to the Pitching du Réel participants.

How to Apply?

In order to make a good selection please describe the subject and how you want to tell the story. Who are the protagonists, what is your motivation, what will the film look like?

  • A synopsis. 
  • A longer treatment.
  • Director’s note and visual concept.
  • Producer’s note.
  • Biofilmography of the director/s and producer/s.
  • A company profile.
  • A global budget and a detailed financing plan.

  • If available visual material of the project (promo teaser, character studies etc.).
  • 2 copies DVD of previous works by the director/s.

Participation Fee

A participation fee of 360 CHF (plus VAT 8%) will be asked for each project selected.

It includes:

  • Two DOCM 2012 Registration accreditations.
  • The networking lunch and the coffee breaks. 

The fee has to be paid before the 9th of March 2012. 

Registration Deadline

The registration form and the requested material must be sent before the 20th of January 2012.

Participation in the Pitching du Réel implies acceptance of required regulations.
